Creative Movement (3+)

A fun introductory class that will introduce students to dance. Creative movement and activities help introduce the beginning fundamentals of ballet, jazz and tumbling. Students also play games which enhance cognitive and social development and learn classroom etiquette.

Pre Ballet (5+)

This introductory dance class focuses on the basic dance techniques of ballet. It is a more technique based class for young students. Students will learn basic ballet positions, short dances and play games that enhance cognitive and social development and prepare them for futher dance training.

Musical Theatre

This class focuses on the basic dance techniques of musical theatre. In this class students will be introduced to basic dance fundamentals, including body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of the feet and arms.Team work and games will enhance cognitive & social development. Students will also learn Musical theatre routines and classroom etiquette.

Ballet & Jazz

Dance class focuses on the basic dance techniques of ballet & Jazz. In this class students will be introduced to basic ballet fundamentals, including body alignment, vocabulary, and basic positions of the feet and arms. In jazz, students will be introduced to basic jazz postitions, steps and proper positions of the feet & arms.Team work and games will enhance cognitive & social development. Students will also learn French vocabulary and classroom etiquette.

Ballet

Pre Ballet ages 5+

This class will be centered on beginning ballet technique. Students will be introduced to barre, center work and progressions which will help with body control and alignment. It will include basic ballet vocabulary, classroom etiquette as well as ballet positions, basic turns and group work.

Technical Ballet ages 8+

This class will focus on ballet and basic dance technic to strengthen and build body control and alignment for all dance style. Highly recommended for all dance students enrolled in Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap and Musical Theatre Dance. This is a non performing class.

Ballet I/II

This class will be centered on beginning as well as intermediate dance technique. Students will move through barre, center work, & progressions which will help with body control and alignment. It will include basic turns, jumps, & leaps. French vocabulary and classroom etiquette will be included. Instructor recommends concurrent enrollment in the stretch and strength training class.

Ballet III/IV

This class will include students previous training. Students will advance with their own ability levels through intermediate barre, center work, and progressions. Being a framework for various other types of dance, this class will help with body control, alignment, and rotation. Students will learn the classical style of ballet through academic techniques and French terminology. There is a heavy focus of posture, alignment and placement of the feet to insure proper development for the upper grades and the preparation for pointe work.Instructor highly recommends concurrent enrollment in the stretch and strength training class.

Pre Pointe/Pointe IV/V

This class will include students with previous training including those with several years of experience. Students will advance with their own ability levels through advanced barre, center work, and progressions. It is a technically demanding course for pre pointe and pointe technique. Students will advance to pointe for the second half of the class when ready. Being a framework for various other types of dance, this class will help with body control, alignment, and vocabulary. Students will learn the classical style of ballet through academic techniques and French terminology. Instructor requires concurrent enrollment in the stretch and strength training class and ballet level 3/4.

McLaughlin Dance Company (MDC)

McLaughlin Dance Company is by invitation only. Students are invited each fall semester based on their ability and commitment to dance. The company performs locally and regionally throughout the year. Students aspiring to be invited to participate in MDC are required to be enrolled in a minimum of two dance classes, one of which musct include ballet 1/2 or ballet 3/4.

Hip-Hop & Jazz

Hip-Hop/Jazz ages 5+

This class is designed as an introduction to basic jazz technique and high energy basic hip hop, the latest trends, & exciting dancing moves, focusing on basic jazz positions, turns, jumps, & leaps. Students will also learn center and locomotor progressions as well as proper stretching techniques to enhance strength & flexibility. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.It is strongly recommended that Hip Hop/Jazz students take a ballet or stretch and strength class simultaneously.

Hip-Hop ages 8+

This high energy dance class will go more in depth with hip-hop training, including the latest dance trends and dancing moves. This class is great for the student who just wants to come & get funky as well as the serious dancer looking to improve their hip hop skills. All movement will be modest & age appropriate. All music will be free of questionable lyrics.

Tap and Jazz ages 8+

This class will cover tap and jazz fundamentals for the beginning tap and jazz dancer as well as intermediate tap and jazz technique for the experienced jazz dancer. Students will advance with their own ability levels through center work and progressions. It is strongly recommended that Jazz students take a ballet and stretch and strength class simultaneously.

Theatre

Musical Theatre Dance ages 8+

This class uses all dance styles as a base. Solo, duet, trio, and ensemble numbers help students to learn proper stage use and etiquette. This class is a part of MTC's 360 Triple Threat Series. Students must be enrolled in Tap and Jazz to participate in the Msuical Theatre Dance Class. It is strongly recommended that musical theatre dance students take a technical ballet class simultaneously.
